FINALLY!!!

Staying up until midnight to do a paper pays off - granted, I should have had it done well before then, but still. I got it done.

It's graded now. Wanna know what I got? You know you do. I got 47.5 out of 50 on it. That's right. A 95%.

My bio grade is now at an 80%.

The Best Weekend Just Started.

I got out of lab early, I got my CT DVD in the mail, I'm going to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science tomorrow, I don't have to work Saturday, and I get to try my hand at roller skating yet again (don't ask about last time, just don't...).

The down side? I have a mountain of homework to do. But even that seems within my grasp. Yes, it's going to be a grand weekend.

And with that, I'm going to leave you hanging cause I want to see my new DVD.

Thursday Already?

I don't know why, but I was thinking it was more along the lines of like Wednesday or something. Well, except for the fact that I had lab today which always makes my school day long and that I was going from there to childsitting for my neighbor.

But seriously, this week was sooo long. On Tuesday I was feeling like it was Monday and so on and so forth.

And then I had another revelation, which is that Easter is this Sunday. That's right - Sunday. Where the heck did the first part of this year go? New Year's comes and we all swear we're going to make this year count, and what do you know? I don't remember a good chunk of what I've done this year so far. It's like the train got derailed along the way somewhere like a really cheesy western or something.

Or like a piece of RNA that got derailed while preparing a piece of DNA for duplication.

(Why yes, school does take up a lot of my brain capacity, however did you know??)

But, I think what can happen is for all of us to just keep going forward. I mean, we can't exactly go back and redo stuff anyway (well, unless we had like a hottub that worked as a time machine or something...), and even if we did, I think odds are that we would probably end up making the same mistakes.

So I'm going to enjoy the rest of my week, including my Easter, and I'm not going to worry about squat.

On a different note, today was April Fool's day. My friend and I got pranked by the school janitor, which was exciting...

Janitor: Good morning ladies.

Us: Morning

Janitor: Isn't it beautiful outside? By the way, did you know it's supposed to snow this afternoon?

Me: WHAT.

Jen: Seriously?!?!

Janitor: *continues walking down the stairs laughing* Just kidding. April Fools! It's supposed to be 62 today. Oh, I got you guys good...

Me: Lol, okay, whatever.

Jen: *faux yelling* You suck!

So yeah, that was my exciting day. I totally hated lab today - it was soo freaking long - and so I'm not going to do the lab report. Well, at least, I'm not unless my grade drops significantly over the weekend.

Anyway, I'm tired and rambling yet again.

I Finally Caved and Joined Twitter...

I know, I know. It's just like Facebook and all the rest: I say I'm not going to do it cause I'm all about non-conforming and crap, and then I go and join. And I like it.

I know nothing about Twitter except that it allows me to stal- I mean follow my favorite celebrities. Oh, and it gives me another place to complain or whatever, and to shamelessly push this blog. Oh yes, I am going to get the viewer count up on this if it kills me.

So, school is going, and I have, yet again, another mountain of homework for this week, and instead of doing any of it, I joined Twitter and am now currently blogging about it. I am such a good procrastinator, I could make a career out of it. No joke at all. Although, I think I might get bored not doing anything stimulating with my life...

I don't know how I feel about Twitter. Give me a week and I will let you know how it's working out for me. Geez, it sounds like I'm breaking in a new pair of shoes or something...

On other fun and exciting news, I got my Bio test grade posted. I somehow passed with a B on it, which is really remarkable considering that I missed one class period due to not feeling well and that I really had no idea what was going on. My overall grade in the class is hovering around an 80%, which is again fairly remarkable because the average they expect from the class is a C or lower. Still, it's low compared to what I'm used to, but I think I'm going to choose to not worry about it. My professor has assured me that it is bound to get more interesting from here on out, mainly because we are done looking at the functions of cells.

If I ever have to learn about the organelles inside plant and animal cells again, I think I'm going to run out of the room screaming and crying at the same time.

Today, among joining Twitter, I also spent a good part of the morning putting various songs they did on MST3K onto my iPod. My favorites by far are the Godzilla Geneology Bop and the Pleasant Journey. I really like the Fugitive Alien Medley and the Hike Up Your Pants song, but I haven't found those on audio file yet...

If you haven't figured it out by now, this is probably a good time to tell you that I am, in fact, a nerd. Not a full-fledged, Big Bang Theory type (yet), but a nerd of sorts. I mean, I try to do well in school, I can quote various things such as Star Trek, Watchmen, and the Lord of the Rings, and I have taught myself one phrase in Vulcan. And I have Star Trek ska bands that I occasionally listen to (Nerf Hender, people, Nerf Hender...).

After the excitment of putting MST3K music on my iPod, my little sister Katie and I walked over to the local 7-11 to get food. I love their taquitos - terrible for you, but oh so good.

So anyway, this has gone on waaay too long, and I am rambling like you would not believe. I better stop while I'm at least somewhat ahead...

A Lot of People Have Died for Biology as of Late...

Makes you think, doesn't it?

Okay, not really. I mean, yes it does, but no it doesn't - never mind.

Anyway, for some reason, we have been "solving" a lot of "crimes" in my biology lab. Granted, they are fictional, written inside the lab book, and are to give us all a taste of what we may be doing in real life, but still. Two weeks ago, some guy named Fred stole a Monet painting and we had to decide if he actually did it or not. (He did - as I said in my write up, we had enough evidence to try him before a jury...)

Today, a lady named Sally killed her 98 year old neighbor by baking him a poison cake. She put copper in it - meaing, we had to prove it and now have to do a write up about it.

I'm not saying this isn't interesting and fun, but seriously. Crime is running amuck in the bio department. One only wonders when it will end...

In other news, it snowed again today. I am trying to see the beauty in snow. I know it's one of those things I always bitch about, because it melts in the socks and hair, but I can see some beauty in it. Like in how it makes everything muffled and quiet when it normally wouldn't be. Or how it falls in gentle waves like feathers.

And how it covers the ice which nearly killed me on Tuesday.

I have to admit, I feel almost bad for snow. It comes down in these beautiful flakes, taking all of thirty seconds (if even), and then goes back into the water cycle by melting on the streets and either absorbing into the grass or flooding into the sewer pipes.

How undignified it must feel.

Maybe it's payback for all the times snowflakes have melted in my socks and soaked into my shoes...One can only wonder.

I guess that's about it. I have a mountain of homework to do this weekend, but I think I'll manage to get it done. I really should be in bed right now, but I'm fighting it. What else is honestly new?

My letter from the last blog still smells of marker. It's still pretty epic. : )

Double Pink Eye and Other Thoughts

It has happened again. I have contracted pink eye for the second time in four months. And this time, it's in both eyes.

Can I just tell you how much that sucks? I not only looked like a red-eyed freak of nature (the eye drops have cleared it up quite a bit), but both of my eyes burn and itch like there is no tomorrow. And I can't even scratch them, cause that makes it spread worse!

I think it's cause I work with kids. Ever since I started working at Sylvan, I have become more prone to "kid" sickness - strep throat, pink eye, the sniffles, etc. It is not fun. But on the positive side, I am in fact building up immunities without realizing it. So by the time I become a teacher, I should be totally protected against everything, right?

This week I had my first Biology test. I feel lousy about it. Granted, I waited till like two days before the test to study, but I studied the stuff really hard. The test was so draining. I felt tired and old when it was all said and done.

The test grade has yet to be posted, but the homework and pre lab are graded and posted - I aced both of them. Maybe there is hope for this test grade. Fingers crossed.

And the dreaded Valentine's Day is approaching. I generally am against it because a) I'm almost 20 and still single, b) it's a stupid marketing ploy to spend money and feel lousy about not being in love, and c) it's Saint Valentine's Day, meaning the guy DIED a horrible bloody death and we are buying chocolate to celebrate it.

Society is messed up, if I may say so myself.

But it's going to be okay because my improv group has been asked to do a few skits for a couple of Sunday school classes up at church on Valentine's Day. That is going to be fun.

And I think that is about it. I'm rooting for the Saints to win the Superbowl, if anyone cares. I don't generally watch football or any sport for that matter ( I like bowling, bullriding, ice skating, and the dirty hockey matches), but I'm actually pretty excited about the game tomorrow.

Okay, I've rambled enough. I'm going back to "Wild Rebels" MST3K version. I'll write again to let you all know how my test grade is.
