Saturday = Rainy

And I have been battling a migraine for most of the day.  Joy.

But we need the rain and I like the rain, so I'm not really complaining.  I just wish my head would make up its mind.  Seriously.

I went to see "Priest" last night with Trevor.  It was the first time I had seen a 3-D movie.  I am a proud wearer of prescription glasses, so I wasn't sure if the 3-D glasses would fit over my real ones or if it would even work for me.

For all my readers who also wear glasses, there is good news.  The glasses fit without a hitch and I was able to enjoy the film with no problem.

The quality of the film was another matter entirely.

It wasn't terrible.  There were moments where it was really good and there were some cool action scenes.  But character developement was flat, the story felt like it had holes, and on the whole it felt like there was a lot missing.  It was still a blast, though.

(I think it was the company I was with. =D)

Tomorrow is graduation Sunday up at our church.  My baby sister is graduating high school, so it's going to be monumental.  I am so proud of her; at the same time, I can't believe she's almost 18 and done with school.  Where did the time go?  I am blown away at how far she's come.  How far we've both come, actually.

And that's a little sentimental.  Let's leave with a happy, non-teary subject.

My headache is nearly gone.  The rain is nice.  And tomorrow is going to be a good day.

Enjoy your Saturday, dear readers.

Rainy Day Post.

It's raining.  Which is good, because otherwise, it would be snowing.  I've said it a million and one times on here at least, but I'll say it again for good measure: rain is good, snow is bad.  Rain reminds me of home.  Snow makes me want to cry.

Unless it's winter, Christmas, or around Christmas.  That's different.  Then it's magical.

I'm trying to decide what to do today.  Should I make it a productive day?  What is the definition of a productive day anyway?

On the one hand, I could clean.  I have a room that looks like a twister hit it, the bathroom is kind of a mess, and I really should sweep the kitchen.  Maybe redecorate my bedroom walls.

On the other hand, I could just spend the whole day reading the manga my boyfriend (it's going to take a while for me to get used to saying that...in a good way, of course, lol) lent me, catching up on celebrity gossip (I don't know about anyone else, but I need a healthy dose of it from time to time), and knitting my scarves.  If I go with this option, I might even work a bit on the collection of poetry I started at the beginning of the semester when everything felt like it was going to hell.

Hmm.  Yeah, the second option I think has won.  It is a perfect day for doing nothing.

I got a copy of People's Magazine yesterday so that I could catch up on the Royal Wedding stuff.  I know, I know.  It's very hyped up.  But you know what?  Kate got her fairytale and frankly, I think it's romantic.  I'm kind of a sucker for that anyway, so maybe it doesn't count though.

I just love how in love they are.  You can tell in all of their pictures that he really loves her and that she really loves him.  The fact that she's a commoner is cool too.  It shows that when it's right, no barriers - social, religious, etc. - can hold it back.  Total fairytale.

Plus her dress is beautiful.  I don't think it's something that I would wear, but it looks astounding on her.  Weddings are one of those things that some girls dream about their whole lives; I love watching them when they work out.

My cousin is getting married this summer.  I'm kind of bummed we don't get to go to the wedding.  He's the last of my family to get married; that ultimately means that theoretically, I'm next.  Although, we could end up doing what my cousins did and my sister could get hitched first.  It could happen.

I like to think of it as not on my time table but rather on God's time table.  It makes me a lot less stressed and takes an insane amount of pressure off of me.  And really, I waited and God brought me the most wonderful guy, so I don't see a problem in my way of thinking.

My job interview with Macy's fell through.  I got an email yesterday telling me that my interview was cancelled because they already filled the position.  I'm not as bummed out as I feel like I should be.  I think it would have been a good place to work, but maybe it means I'm supposed to be somewhere else.  Who knows.

My phone has also been giving me a boatload of trouble.  Last night I plugged it in; it said it was charging, so I went to sleep confident that it would be fully charged when I woke up.  I got up this morning and turned it on, only to be told that the battery was about to die.  So after talking with my dad, I swapped out my memory card with his.

Now I have two phones with me this morning.  One is my dad's with my memory card in it; the other is mine with his memory card in it.  Oh, and the trouble phone is now saying it has a full battery.

I can't wait until we renew our contract and can get new phones.  Just another few weeks...

Yup, that about sums up my existance at this moment.  Enjoy you're Wednesday, dear readers. =)

Why Can't I Sleep In??

I went to bed at 11:00 pm last night.  That's late for me, dear readers.  Yes, I understand that I'm young and whatnot; honestly, though, I need a lot of sleep to function.

So naturally my body decided that today was probably a school day and woke me up at 6:15.

It's another one of my weird quirks.  No matter how late I go to bed, I always get up consistently between 6 and 8 in the morning.  Last spring I went to a cowboy bar with a few friends (dancing and singing sober karaoke was awesome, so I recommend it) and we didn't get back until 3:30 in the morning.  I still woke up at 7:15.

Oh well.  Gives me more time to start my day I suppose.

I'm still on the job hunt.  Yesterday I filled out an application at Best Buy.  Today I'm going to try to get one filled out for Old Navy.  I've still got Target that I need to fill out as well.  Push comes to shove, I'll do one for Wal-Mart too.

I have to go get more blood work done this week.  The doctor wants to make sure that my liver is back where it should be.  I'm supposed to ask her about cutting back my medication when I go pick up the form as well - I'm having trouble sitting still and I'm kind of shaky all the time now.  It's all good.  I'm still in a better place than I was a month and a half ago.

Other than that, things are nice and routine.  Homework, school, family, friends, laundry, dog sitting.  Rinse and repeat as necessary.

It rained last night.  Part way through it kind of got mixed with snow; luckily the snow passed and there is none on the ground.  I'm still holding out for a thunderstorm.

And now it's time to get my day started, I suppose.

The Problem with Doing Laundry in an Apartment Full of Others Who Do Their Own Laundry...

...is that you come home and find that all of your clothing from the dryer has been gracelessly thrown upon your bed.

Granted, I did have fair warning that this was going to happen.  And I wouldn't have been doing laundry if I wasn't in dire need of something to wear tomorrow, cause I knew I wasn't going to have time to finish it earlier.  So really, it is kind of my own fault.

But at the same time, it's not a pleasant sight to behold.  I just spent five minutes hunting down socks that somehow got mixed in with my books, covers, and stuffed animals.  And I still have three stragglers.

(I think the dryer might have gotten hungry.  It's about time for it's sacrificial sock ritual...)

Oh well.  What are you going to do, right?

(I really don't want to be doing homework right now.  Can you tell?  I'm fighting that "I can skip one class, it won't kill me" urge, actually.  But I have perfect attendence in my writing class, so that's out of the question.)

It rained a little bit here today.  That's always kind of nice.  My only complaint with Colorado really is that it snows when it should be thunderstorming and it's dry when there should be rain.  But I'm from tornado alley, where storms are common from here until the middle of summer.

Who am I kidding?  I'm just filling space at this point.

I'll update again tomorrow, dear readers.

RAIN!!!

It's raining.  Finally.

That's the problem with Colorado - it's either freakishly dry or it snows.  It's so rare to have a good rain storm.  (At least, that's how it feels to me.  I might be biased, though, cause I'm a native of the Midwest.)

Maybe this means I'll sleep well tonight.  Goodness knows I need to have a good day tomorrow.  Maybe rain and good sleep with help.

Anyway.

It's raining.  I'm happy.  At least, happier than I've been most of the week.

And now I'm going to bed.

Know What the Best Smell Is?

The smell of rain on the sidewalk.

I love the smell of rain and how the ozone just kind of seems to trickle down from the sky to the earth.  It's my Midwestern roots coming out.  Nothing will ever replace the smell of rain.

It's like a good thunderstorm. I love a good thunderstorm. Especially when I need a really good nights sleep. Honestly, nothing makes me sleep better than a storm.

I came out of my last class today and discovered that it had rained.  It was really refreshing after a long day inside doing nothing but learning things that I'm fairly sure I didn't retain.

It's fire season here in Colorado and there are so many fires around us.  Rain in larger quantities would be appreciated.

To be honest, the fires make me a little nervous.  Until we moved out here, I had never thought about wild fires.  It was always more of flash floods and tornados instead.  Nearly six years out here and I'm still not used to the thought of fires running rampant.

The nice thing is that we've never been evacuated.  At least, not yet.  I'm still waiting for the day when my nightmare happens and our area is evacuated.  I'm pretty sure it's a slim chance.

Ah rain.  We need you to give us a good storm.

(Apologies if this blog made no sense.  I've been running off of three and a half hours of sleep or so today.)

I Love the Rain!

Enough said.

It's sprinkling right now.  It's supposed to turn into snow tomorrow and then do it again on Thursday.  I'm hoping for at least one good thunder boomer before then.  Maybe tonight as I go to sleep.

Being from the Midwest originally, I really miss the thunder storms.  Yeah, we get 'em here.  But they aren't quite the same.  There is nothing more amazing than a thunder storm putting you to sleep.  It is the best night of sleep you will get.

Outside of camping in places without mountain lions. :)

Until tomorrow, dear readers.

It's Raining!!!

...that is all.

Oh wait. That and I'm about to devour some pizza.

And my hair is once again purple.

Score.

New, in depth, deep entry later. K? K.

Failure to Launch

That's how my brain feels. I just spent an hour on a math test where I couldn't remember anything except to put my name at the top of the paper. I seriously almost started crying in class cause my grade is at the lowest it's ever been and it's so unlike me to let it get like that.

Yeah, it adds to my week of awesomeness. Let me give you the run down:

So, on Tuesday, I had a bio test, which was brutal. My mom got onto me about my grades a little, and I was reminded that I had to get my meningitis vaccine on Wed. morning. Which I had completely forgotten about even though I was the one who made the appointment.

So Wed. I got a shot and my arm still hurts. Today, I bombed this stupid ass math test.

But-

I changed my major so now I can relax a little. I got signed up for fall classes, and they are all classes that I want to take (Music Appreciation, History 122, and Creative Writing), and I got my financial aid paperwork done, so I don't have to stress myself out because I don't have enough money to cover semester.

And I am healthy, my family is healthy, my sister and I are back to being on pretty good terms, I get to babysit tonight which translates into watching Jurassic Park II with a five year old for the millionth time (maybe I'll actually get to see the end this time...), and it's raining. I love the rain.

So I really have no right to complain at the moment. They are just grades. They do not define me. As much as I know this, I still freak out about them. I'll get over it. Eventually.

Completely random tangent, I just realized today that I have like five different passwords for things. How do I keep them straight? I don't know, I just do.

Ok, that's all for today.
Until the next whiny blog,

~Meaghan
