It's raining. Which is good, because otherwise, it would be snowing. I've said it a million and one times on here at least, but I'll say it again for good measure: rain is good, snow is bad. Rain reminds me of home. Snow makes me want to cry.
Unless it's winter, Christmas, or around Christmas. That's different. Then it's magical.
I'm trying to decide what to do today. Should I make it a productive day? What is the definition of a productive day anyway?
On the one hand, I could clean. I have a room that looks like a twister hit it, the bathroom is kind of a mess, and I really should sweep the kitchen. Maybe redecorate my bedroom walls.
On the other hand, I could just spend the whole day reading the manga my boyfriend (it's going to take a while for me to get used to saying that...in a good way, of course, lol) lent me, catching up on celebrity gossip (I don't know about anyone else, but I need a healthy dose of it from time to time), and knitting my scarves. If I go with this option, I might even work a bit on the collection of poetry I started at the beginning of the semester when everything felt like it was going to hell.
Hmm. Yeah, the second option I think has won. It is a perfect day for doing nothing.
I got a copy of People's Magazine yesterday so that I could catch up on the Royal Wedding stuff. I know, I know. It's very hyped up. But you know what? Kate got her fairytale and frankly, I think it's romantic. I'm kind of a sucker for that anyway, so maybe it doesn't count though.
I just love how in love they are. You can tell in all of their pictures that he really loves her and that she really loves him. The fact that she's a commoner is cool too. It shows that when it's right, no barriers - social, religious, etc. - can hold it back. Total fairytale.
Plus her dress is beautiful. I don't think it's something that I would wear, but it looks astounding on her. Weddings are one of those things that some girls dream about their whole lives; I love watching them when they work out.
My cousin is getting married this summer. I'm kind of bummed we don't get to go to the wedding. He's the last of my family to get married; that ultimately means that theoretically, I'm next. Although, we could end up doing what my cousins did and my sister could get hitched first. It could happen.
I like to think of it as not on my time table but rather on God's time table. It makes me a lot less stressed and takes an insane amount of pressure off of me. And really, I waited and God brought me the most wonderful guy, so I don't see a problem in my way of thinking.
My job interview with Macy's fell through. I got an email yesterday telling me that my interview was cancelled because they already filled the position. I'm not as bummed out as I feel like I should be. I think it would have been a good place to work, but maybe it means I'm supposed to be somewhere else. Who knows.
My phone has also been giving me a boatload of trouble. Last night I plugged it in; it said it was charging, so I went to sleep confident that it would be fully charged when I woke up. I got up this morning and turned it on, only to be told that the battery was about to die. So after talking with my dad, I swapped out my memory card with his.
Now I have two phones with me this morning. One is my dad's with my memory card in it; the other is mine with his memory card in it. Oh, and the trouble phone is now saying it has a full battery.
I can't wait until we renew our contract and can get new phones. Just another few weeks...
Yup, that about sums up my existance at this moment. Enjoy you're Wednesday, dear readers. =)

I Survived.
My presentation went better than expected, actually. Oh wait, did I tell you guys about that? I had a three slide presentation due in psychology today. I wasn't really stressed about it. Well, unless you count waking up at three in the morning and running it through my head until I fell back asleep as stress.
In which case, yeah, I was a little stressed.
I had the craziest nightmare this morning. It was after I went back to sleep from waking up at three. I dreamed that the area my family is living in got evacuated due to a wildfire. We grabbed as much stuff as we could and packed up the car. My dad was driving, like he always is in my dreams. Suddenly we were driving on the old outer road in Missouri that I remember and know well. (Funny way that dreams merge past and present, isn't it? I very rarely make it through a nightmare or a dream without some element from my old home, neighborhood, or roads...) We were going the wrong way; as my dad tried to turn around, we were surrounded by smoke.
I woke up to the nasty chirping of my alarm clock.
I think my day could have been a lot worse, actually. Especially with that as a precursor. But it went pretty well for the most part. I'm thankful for that.
I have decided to write my informative speech on how to protect yourself during the Zombie Apocalypse. I know it's not something practical, but I am so sick of being practical. I can be practical when I'm old. I'm young and frankly, I want to do something fun. I love planning how things are going to go down when the zombies come; this is just an extention of that.
I spoke to my creative writing instructor today as well. I've been feeling kind of crappy about my skills as a writer this semester; it was a very encouraging thing to talk to her about. I feel a lot better about where my writing kind of stands.
I'm really tired. Waking up at odd hours really doesn't do any good for anyone. I think it may be an early night.
I found a Stephen King book I couldn't get into. It's "the Stand" and I was trying to read it at school today. Maybe there was too much going on (they had gaming systems set up in the area I normally sit in and it was kind of fun to watch groups do DDR - I myself was wearing heels and had no intention of doing it, but I had no problem watching others make fools of themselves, lol...) or maybe I was just too tired. Whatever it was, I returned it to the library today with only five pages read.
Maybe I need a change in what I'm reading. I mean, I love horror and I love Stephen King, but lately it's all been feeling a little predictable to me. I refuse to read romances because I'm having enough issues with it (or lack thereof) in my own life; fantasy is the same old, same old. Maybe I should take to reading creative non fiction. That might shake up my book diet nicely.
Oh, and aren't you guys proud of me? I've been updating every single day since the year started. That's right, dear readers. I have been good on my self-imposed challenge. Granted, I don't feel like I have a lot to say most of the time, but hey. At least I'm doing it.
Ah, I feel like I need to go read or knit. Something to unwind. I'll talk to you guys later.

Spring Break Day Eleven: The End of Break
I want to go back to school, but man, I really love sleeping in and doing nothing. I did not realize how much I enjoyed it until now, when it's time to put the nose back to the grindstone.
I'm really going to miss break.
But I am happy to go back. My writing gets so stagnant when I don't have anything to shake up my week. If I had a job, it would be different because work always provides inspiration. Since I don't, though, a lot of my ideas come while I'm at school. And school gives my brain that extra push. By doing homework and participating in class, I'm stimulating my mind which in turns stimulates my writing.
So it's a good thing.
Again, though, I am seriously going to miss sleeping in. Daylight savings has not been kind to me. I am exhausted already and the week is just starting. Not fun, peeps, not fun.
Tomorrow is so many things. The first day back to school after break. The "Ides of March". The day of the Jeopardy! test.
I'm actually really excited for that last one. Even if I don't make it past the online test, at least I can say I tried. Plus, it's going to be a lot of fun. As I've stated before on here, I'm a huge Jeopardy! fan.
Do I know enough trivial information? No idea. But I'm still excited anyway. Nothing is going to ruin my day tomorrow.
My day today was actually pretty good too, except for being tired. I went to the library and loaded myself up with reading material. I'm very excited. Granted, it's been a while since I've been able to actually finish anything. It's being busy with school and life; it puts a serious kink in the reading world. But I plan on making time this go.
One of the books that came in is called "The Book of Awesome". It is amazing. If you have never read it, I highly recommend you go pick up a copy and start reading. It's great.
And on that note, I'm going to leave you so that I can enjoy the rest of my last day of break.

One Paper Done.
The first paper of the new semester, I might add.
I thought it would feel incredibly exciting, like "oh look, my paper's done, the semester really has started" or something. No, not really. It's more along the lines of the "I'm-not-sure-I-liked-how-that-turned-out-but-I'm-not-interested-in-re-writing-it" type of thing.
Oh well.
I am glad to be back in the swing of things. This week got off to a kind of rough start, but it's already getting better.
I talked to the people at financial aid today. Turns out, I was right. I have like a hundred and thirty dollars still to use. The people in the book store were wrong. So it's nice knowing that it didn't just magically vanish or something. I mean, stuff magically vanishes all the time for me - erasers, socks (I blame the sock gnome, but that's just me), books, etc. - but having money vanish is stupid.
It's just wrong, you know? Just wrong.
Thankfully, it's there. My head has stopped hurting, my heartburn has calmed slightly (I get that taken care of on Friday), and I'm feeling pretty good.
I'm faced with a choice right now, though. I can get the rest of my reading done for all my classes today while I have a chance, or I can slack of ceaselessly.
I'm going to get the reading done. I'll feel better if I do. I want to finish this blog first, though.
So, it's Wed. I'm looking forward to school tomorrow. I'm not actually nervous, which is good. I know more or less what to expect. The only thing that seems like it might drive me nuts is the fact that I'm at school from 8 in the morning until after 5 at night. I think it's going to be okay as long as I pack a book to read and a decent lunch.
I think I might get a lot of reading done this week. I figure that I can take a lunch that doesn't need to be microwaved and just stay on the fourth floor the entire day. I don't really know anyone who has a break with me (one friend is taking a semester off to explore the world around her, one friend was going to have class on Tuesday/Thursday with me - she's in the nursing program - but ended up having class on Monday/Wed., etc.), so it will give me some time to catch up on things.
I'm thinking free reading tomorrow, maybe homework next week. You know, time to be constructive or whatever. I had the fleeting thought this morning that I could make mini paper cranes and leave them on the tables in the halls when I go to class. I'm not sure how that would be received, but it's an interesting thought nonetheless...
I have faith that this semester is going to end well. :)
I'm still writing my story, though not as aggressively as I had been. I'm at just over 3,500 words, which is pretty good. I still want to see it through to the end; I'm going to try to work on it a little each day until it's done. It's my relax project.
I think that about sums up my life here. I'm reading "the Mists of Avalon" which is pretty good, but I'm not sure I'm going to get it finished before it's due back at the library. I am going to buy a Kindle or a Nook as soon as I have the money together - I think either one will be a good investment for me. That way I can have all the books I can read at my finger tips without dealing with due dates. It just seems convient.
Also, I think I'm going to have to watch the "Darjeeling Limited" again. I thought I didn't like it, but I can't stop thinking about it. Ultimately I think that means it's grown on me and I need to borrow it from the library again to confirm the theory.
Ok, I've rambled enough. I have reading for speech and Psychology to have together before tomorrow.
Until the next random update,
~Meaghan
